Activities of GGSS - आमोदा and परामोदा
'Aamodaa' is the name given to the annual internal competitions held separately at each branch of GGSS. (The name was suggested by his holiness, the Jagadguru of Sringeri). Every year, in the months of December-January, the branches of GGSS individually host Aamodaa for their students. The series of competitions include many events which put to test whatever the students have learnt in that year. Fancy dress, shloka-recitation, Bhagavadgita recitation, shabdakathanam, Amarakosha, storytelling, dumb charades, antyakshari, etc are some of the popular competitions.
Competitions are held in different categories for different age-groups. Also, in branches where strength is high, the students are divided into internal groups, which help to promote competitive spirit and leadership skills. Unlike Pratibha, which is an open event for all students, Aamodaa is restricted to the students of Geetha Govinda Samskrita Sangha. Winners are awarded prizes during the annual day of that branch.
From the year 2010, in addition to the branches organising competitions individually, all branches of GGSS come together to host inter-branch competitions as Paraamodaa.
Competitions will be held in separate categories for Puttanis (LKG, UKG, 1st), Sub-juniors(2nd, 3rd, 4th), Juniors (5th, 6th, 7th), Seniors (8th, 9th, 10th), Maha-seniors (above 10th).
